Newtown Real Estate History:
Newtown Pennsylvania was founded in 1683 by Williams Penn when he purchased the land from the Lenni Lenape Indians and established Newtown’s Real Estate market. In 1684 William Penn established Newtown to provide country homes for Philadelphia residents and to create an economic center for the surrounding farming communities.
For many years New Township and Newtown kept their own names but the township gradually changed their name to Newtown due to the popularity of the Borough.
Newtown Real Estate is home to many historical houses and buildings constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries. Included is the nation’s oldest operating movie theatre, Newtown Theatre, which was initially built as a lecture hall in the mid 1800's and converted to a theatre in 1906.
