Now that the weather has changed here in Bucks County, we have to prepare our homes for winter. A few tips you may want to do now include: Have a professional inspect, clean and tune up your heating system and remember to change your filters. Consider getting your chimney cleaned and/or inspected if you haven’t had it looked at recently. Visually inspect your roof for missing or loose shingles. Caulk around windows and doors to minimize drafts and remove your screens or replace them with storm windows. Set your ceiling fans in the reverse direction to pull down air hovering at the ceiling. Clean the fall leaves out of your gutters and extend the downspouts away from the foundation. Turn off exterior faucets. Mulch your leaves to decompose and nourish your lawn over the winter. Restock your winter supplies of firewood, shovels, ice melt and prepare your snowblower. Restock your home survival kit which should include flashlights, batteries, candles and matches, blankets, bottled water and non-perishable food items. A little planning now will help make winter a little more bearable later! And if you or anyone you know wants to buy, sell or invest in real estate, call us at 215-266-2253.
